when you take a few minutes to show a rich guy how to put his brand new SL65 into dyno mode (or as some of us like to call it, suicide mode).

I guess being AMGtech has it's benefits. For future reference, how do you put it into dyno mode?

Some guy once gave me HK$20 just to help him pump his tyres up.

My mind was just blown. Thank you so so much. So I start it like this, take it up to 4th or 5th, and take care of business?

I'd say that was worth $20 tops, but Mercedes techs are always overcharging for simple shit.

Best thing was, I wasn't even an attendant at the petrol station - I was just doing the tyres up on my dad's car!

If it's actually on a dyno, there's not much you can do to hurt the car. I work at a dyno company and I've got a customer who does mileage accumulation and the robot driver took a nap at the wheel and let the car go 130 mph until it ran out of gas (~ 45 minutes). This was on some v6 suv thing (ml 350?). This was in a test cell with no cooling to speak of, and simulating real world load, not just free-wheeling.

Oh yeah for sure, but that isn't why we didn't want to tell him. We just didn't want him using it on the street. Well and we wanted to make sure it was broken in first. Less worried about the car than the driver. 738lbft of torque with no electronic nannies on 285 street tires could be difficult.
